Single Purpose: Lichess connection analytics

Lichess Lag Analytics is a browser extension that helps players analyze connection quality on lichess.org (for example ping, jitter, lag-related time impact, and game-level trends).

1) Data We Process

We process only data needed to provide extension features:

  • Lichess usernames shown in played games (you and opponents).
  • Lichess game links and timestamps (so users can view game history and open games).
  • In-extension analytics data (for example ping, jitter, lag history, time gap, and match guard stats).
  • Optional authentication token entered by the user for friend import (follow:read scope on Lichess API).
  • Website content required to compute analytics (for example clock text, result, mode, player names, and game metadata visible on lichess.org pages).

2) Data We Do Not Process

  • We do not collect health data.
  • We do not collect payment or financial data.
  • We do not collect private communications.
  • We do not collect GPS location.

3) How Data Is Used

Data is used only for the extension's single purpose:

  • Display live lag indicators and in-game graphs.
  • Generate post-game analytics and dashboard views.
  • Calculate performance correlations (for example ping vs win rate).
  • Power match guard and opponent history tools.
  • Optionally import followed users from Lichess when the user explicitly enables it.

4) Storage

  • Data is stored in browser extension storage (local and optional sync storage).
  • No dedicated external database is used by the extension for user analytics data.

5) Sharing and Selling

  • We do not sell user data.
  • We do not transfer user data to third parties for advertising.
  • We do not use user data for unrelated purposes.
  • We do not use user data to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes.

6) Remote Code

  • The extension does not execute remote code.
  • All executable extension code is packaged with the extension.
  • Network requests are used only for extension functionality (for example reading Lichess game and clock data and measuring connection latency).

7) User Control

  • Users can reset extension data.
  • Users can export and import data backups from the dashboard.
  • Users can remove the extension at any time to stop all processing.

8) Security

We limit data handling to what is required for extension features and avoid unnecessary collection.

9) Changes to This Policy

If this policy changes, we will update this page and revise the "Last updated" date.
